Christopher West used this as an ilLUSTration of how not to do it. Inconthevible!
I never thought I’d see socialism in the White House and Putin sounding like Barry Goldwater. What is going on? So, when you are to the left of the former head of the KGB, what does that make you? Is it now safe to refer to Obama as a liberal?
Found this article through the newly Twittering David Allen. It’s pretty interesting stuff and, as best I can understand it, it would seem that the ever maligned “monkey mind” may play a huge role in your personal development. Check it out. Also, on the topic of neuroscience and it’s interface with things philosophical, theological, or personal, I’d recommend the amazing book “The Mind and the Brain: Neuroplasticity and the Power of Mental Force” by Schwartz. He is a friend of mine’s OCD doc, a member of the Discovery Institute, and the auther of this book, which Gilder called a “daring rescue of the concept of free will.” It’s not an easy read, but pays dividends. Also R.R. Reno had this article over on First Things, showing the link between the bleeding edge of the neuroscience and the Aristotelean concept of the soul as the form of the body. Great article! Well, that’s enough grey matter for now. I’m going to stop all this doing and get down to something important- nothing!
Saw the following over on the Catholic Professionals group on LinkedIn, thought it was amazing and great example of how right on Fr. Neuhaus is most of the time. m -A
“When I come before the judgment throne, I will plead the promise of God in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. I will not plead any work I have done, although I will thank God that he has enabled me to do some good. I will plead no merits other than the merits of Christ, knowing that the merits of Mary and the saints are all from him; and for their company, their example, and their prayers through my earthly life I will give everlasting thanks. I will not plead that I had faith, for sometimes I was unsure of my faith, and in any event that would be to turn faith into a meritorious work of my own. I will not plead that I held the correct understanding of ‘justification by faith alone,’ although I will thank God that that he led me to know ever more fully the great truth that much misunderstood doctrine was intended to protect. Whatever little growth in holiness I have experienced, whatever strength I have received from the company of the saints, whatever understanding I have attained of God and his ways…these and all other gifts I will bring gratefully to the throne. But in seeking entry to that heavenly kingdom, I will, with Dysmas, look to Christ and Christ alone.”

For those of you who have not seen this, test how well the old Reticular Activating System is working. I have to admit, it got me big time the first time. Have fun- and pay attention.
Ok, I’m starting to buy into the conspiracy theory of the globalism alarmists- go ahead and pour me a tall sweaty glass of the kool-aid. Here’s Dick Morris, of all people, sounding like Alex Jones. I am officially scared and would love to stay and chat, but need to get to work on my new shiny tin foil hat.
Mmm … Bacon! (Of the Chocolate-Covered Variety) - City Room Blog - NYTimes.com
Your bacon’s in my chocolate! Your chocolate’s in my bacon! Two great tastes that taste great together. This is the best new swinolicious idea since the bacon cheese baconburger.
Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read “VoteObama, I need the money.” I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on an “Obama 08” tie. Again I laughed as he had given away his politicalpreference—just imagine the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him thatI was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip tosomeone who I deemed more in need—the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy wasgrateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiterwas pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.
